Buttons used to click and clack. They’ve been replaced by greasy smushes, Jabs, and swipes, which somehow lack The oomph of mechanistic pushes. Lightbulbs once were incandescent. They lit each room a golden tone, Unlike the numbing, white, fluorescent Bulbs today, which buzz and drone. Letters, too, were stamped and mailed. The news would oftentimes annoy, But folded paper never failed To bring a little tactile joy. The world is, in many ways, A better place than way back when, And yet I yearn for different days When buttons click and clack again.
